This underground water was flowing North West towards Theodore Roosevelt Lake and there was a potential environmental hazard that could have become a problem.<\/p>\n<p>Three copper mines in the area decided to contribute towards the treating of the polluted groundwater. A processing plant was constructed near Globe to treat this water.<\/p>\n<p>An underground dam wall has been constructed to prevent the flow of the contaminated water towards the lake. Water is extracted from 18 wells set at a depth of approximately 100ft each and pumped to the processing plant from where it is purified and then pumped into the natural river bed.<a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hosessa.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/miami2post.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-92\" title=\"miami2post\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hosessa.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/miami2post.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"289\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Due to the high iron content and very aggressive nature of the water, mild steel or stainless steel pipes could not be used as a drop pipe. The combination of these materials would create a problem of pipe blockage and corrosion within months.<\/p>\n<p>For this reason it was decided to use Boreline. Boreline does not corrode and iron bacteria cannot accumulate internally thereby resulting in superior flow rates over the long term.<\/p>\n<p>Boreline is also very easy to install and retrieve. It is light weight and rolls flat, making it easy to store and transport.<\/p>\n<p>In this project, the first 5 pumps were installed with Boreline early December 2000. The total time to install these 5 wells took 1\u00bd hours of which positioning the crane took over an hour. As can be seen from the photos below, the actual installation of the Boreline and pump was a very simple operation<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_95\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-95\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hosessa.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/miami3.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-95 \" title=\"miami3\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hosessa.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/miami3.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-95\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">All 5 lengths of Boreline were attached to the pump and head works off site. The power cable is attached along the entire length of the hose using the cable straps provided. These hoses were then folded with pumps and transported to the site for installation.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_97\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-97\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hosessa.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/miami4.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-97 \" title=\"miami4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hosessa.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/miami4.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-97\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This is a picture of the Boreline coupling already screwed into the elbow and head works.
