As the rig was now floating the pumps installed to supply the generators with cooling water and for the ablutions were also above the water line. The oil rig was hooked up into the mains water supply, but this was costly and wasteful as 75% of the water was just exhausted.<\/p>\n<p>This was when Denorco, now Franklin Electric came up with a solution &#8211; which was to hang a submersible pump down the centre pit directly into the sea water below. The easiest and safest solution, they felt, was to use Boreline, a flexible riser developed and manufactured by Cape Town based company Hose Manufacturers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_457\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-457\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-457 size-full\" title=\"01\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hosessa.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/01.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"333\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-457\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">As the Rig was now floating above water in Cape Town Harbour, the pumps installed to supply the generators with cooling water and the ablutions, were now above the water line.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_458\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-458\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hosessa.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/02.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-458\" title=\"02\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hosessa.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/02.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-458\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Oil Rig has hooked up into the mains water supply, but this was mostly and wasteful as 75% of the ater was just exhausted. As the Boreline could not be fastened at the top, a special bracket had to be made up for the Pump to be held in position.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_460\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-460\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hosessa.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/04.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-460\" title=\"04\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hosessa.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/04.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-460\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">To ease future retrieval a bleed plug was fitted into the bottom Boreline coupling, to allow drainage of water from the Boreline.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_461\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-461\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hosessa.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/05.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-461\" title=\"05\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hosessa.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/05.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"187\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-461\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Boreline was connected directly into the main manifold&#8230;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_451\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-451\" style=\"width: 250px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a ref=\"magnificPopup\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hosessa.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/06.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-451\" title=\"06\" src=\"https:\/\/www.hosessa.com\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/06.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"333\"><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-451\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">&#8230;
